Google Announced Changes To Their Homepage

Google’s home page has seen many changes since the company started back in 1998. While they most likely keep their minimalistic design, the rise of Bing with its colorful, more appealing home page seems to fasten Google’s improvements on their end. Last week, Google announced a tiny change to their home page: the search box is now longer and is displayed in a bigger font – so are the suggestions below. Google’s VP Marissa Mayer states in the official blog that this step “symbolizes our focus on search (…), it makes our clean, minimalist homepage even easier and more fun to use.”

So, it’s not just you – Google’s search box is indeed bigger now, for the sake of a better user experience. As far as we’re concerned, the changes have been implemented in all international versions of Google.

Not everybody’s happy with these changes, as tiny as they might be. Some bloggers complained about a different experience on their notebook and home monitor, others want Google to make use of  the full width of the screen. However, with Caffeine just waiting to be released, this change is indeed a tiny one.
